3: Twitter Engagement
The first phase is observation. In the last article we explained how we could observe Social Media where I described some of the things we found and provided some insights into how we should view the resulting information that led to how you might stand out from the crowd.
This article deals with engaging or ‘engagement’ as it is referred to. For simplicity and brevity I will continue to use the Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) example and I will limit this article again, to Twitter – because it is by far the easiest to do, you can follow me quickly and you can do it now…
You will need to open your account to do this. Here is the link to the video that shows you how I set up an account in Twitter:
So, lets go back to the search box in Twitter and type in the term ‘financial help’ now we are searching for references that we could potentially work with…
The first thing I notice is someone who could be a financial advisor using Twitter the way I recommended in the last article – here it is:
@solobasssteve We’re starting a Financial Services ‘glossary for the rest of us’ – want to help explain FSI terms? – http://bit.ly/2ndepL #WHN #LDNcityday
How pleased we are!
Then, 4 minutes before hand this was tweeted:
@robertmerzarcp i need help in formulating a “financial security resuscitation” plan hahahaha! gotta fix up my finances! pay off at least 1 credit card!
4 minutes ago from Twitterrific
21 minutes before that this was tweeted:
@Orendakemp Anyone know how to set up a help fund for someone who needs financial help to move but credit is ruined by identity theft
21 minutes ago from web
and so on…
There are three things you can do. You can contact that person direct or you can use this insight to create a tweet where you are offering a solution to anyone else who has a similar problem. The third thing you could do is to check out the profile of the person and see if they are based in the UK – if you are based in the UK or US / US etc. If they do live near you, if location is important to you, then you might want to send them a message, saying
@yourtwitteraddress Hi, I understand the pain you must be going through, I am a financial advisor qualified to deal with this. If you would like to talk this through, my office number is 0207 953 1123.
Laborious yes, that is why you will want to automate it, or even outsource it. That’s where we come in.
For the next lesson we are going to introduce you to some Social Media Tools that can help.
